Lunar Eclipse and the Salt of Self-worth
This May, for the first time in five or six years, we are not getting freezing rain and hail to destroy all the newly set fruit on the trees. The fruit is abundant and we have had proper Galician rain for this time of the year, hopefully enough to prevent another summer drought. The wildflowers have bloomed in the meadows and the colours are singing.
I know that there’s still work to do, but I’m feeling that we have tipped the balance in favour of Nature. Helping the Earth restore the water cycle, so she can stabilize the weather systems, is my main goal this year – global catastrophe is not as certain as some commentators would have you believe. This is an adventure into the unknown, as I don’t know yet what this entails, but I am confident that the knowledge and resources will show up as needed. Confirmation that we are on the right track showed up on the eclipse, when I saw this theme mirrored in the mind of the Earth, as the salt of self-worth.
We went for a walk just after the rain and the trees looked bigger and stronger, chestnut saplings, cherry and maple are already waist high and the green leafiness is almost tropical. I have been dreaming of the forest and riding the dream-streams, doing things that I need to do, that are difficult to explain, even if I wanted to. Sometimes results are hard to define. If you find yourself wondering: is that for real or am I imagining it? You might want to catch yourself and reframe that question: is that for real because I imagined it? Just wait a moment and see how Nature responds. You might tear up. An itchy or drippy nose is another confirmation, as is sneezing or coughing. You feel the bodily sensations around your head that are not thoughts. It can take a while to tune into these channels of communication, but the feeling will always be like coming home after a long journey.
I was wondering how the eclipse would play out and I often feel tension with a lunar eclipse, but this one had me feeling as high as a kite. I think that this is because the Earth is now registering our combined efforts to align with her. The imagery of the salt of self-worth fell into my mind in a giddy rush. It’s taken me a few days to tease out the story.
Salt was both the salary of the soldiers of the Roman Empire and proof of bondage. Salt of the Earth, salt of the seas, the body of the oceans, the dry matter after the water is evaporated, is what we are made of and what we make of ourselves. In alchemy, salt is a reference to the body, as well as the individual essence that outlives the physical body, from which we are now generating our multi-dimensional selves. You are both salt and the sum total of its value in gold, according to your own estimation.
The salt of your self-worth arrives beautifully gift-wrapped in all your actions that are in alignment with Nature. It accumulates through many intimate acts of love, witnessing, generosity, caring, sharing and discovery, that might only be real-eyesed by you and Nature. It can be created through speaking up, singing your heart out even if no one is listening, as often as in holding your tongue; it can come via a spontaneous act, or an intentional one, or by doing nothing, but never through thought alone. Self-worth might be generated through your job, what you do for money, as well as public acts in the world-at-large, but most self-worth does not come into existence that way. You get to choose where you put your attention and energy and you are the judge and jury of your own account, no one else and no one else’s.
Nature is Truth. It is silence. To speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is impossible. You cannot speak the Truth, but you can feel it. It wells up in you, cool and moist, salty like the sea and as you sink into the well, even if only for a moment, your mind is silenced – it evaporates as soon as you begin to describe it in your own mind. Feeling the Truth is a faculty of your direct knowing, a portal to Wisdom that enables you to discover something that you have never encountered before, without having been told about it by some one else. It doesn’t matter at all if what you discover is already known, the fact that it is new to you is enough to fire up the neurons that twang the threads of Spider Grandmother’s web. This is how we used to learn and how the powers of Creation move through us.
On the day of the eclipse, May 5th the Moon was in alignment with the star Zubenelgenubi, in the southern pan of the constellation of the Scales. This star came to my attention seven or eight years ago and I named our previous rooster for it, without really knowing why at the time. He was a beautiful rooster and a great singer and he displayed a certain type of cockiness, that ran like a defensive line through the men who grew up in the patriarchy. He made way for Merlin, a different breed of rooster and the herald of a new masculine energy, that is strong and supportive, with a playful reverence for the Natural World, that is like a magnet to the magical beings – in my reality and for anyone else who tunes into it.
Our shamanic ancestors, many of whom are still here now, introduced the constellation of the Scales into the mind of the Earth to help us bring ourselves into balance with new values, as we discard systems that are no longer fit for purpose. On a lunar eclipse the Earth is able to see into our inner waters, the turbulent world of emotions and feelings – it’s like a snapshot view, only lasting through the duration of the eclipse. On this occasion, Zubenelgenubi was in alignment with Spica, in the left-hand of the Virgin. Spica, the ear of wheat has many associations, but the fact that it was also known as Sunbale, Sunbala and Sumbela, which sounds a lot like Shambhala, threw me into the trippiness of the Arcadian dream-stream. I felt a secure and wholesome masculine energy, held through the presence of Ophiuchus and Dexter, as well as Jupiter holding a strong current in the electric fish of Pisces.
Meanwhile, the Sun was about to meet with Uranus, above the constellation of Cetus. In the old stories, Cetus, or the Sea Monster, was sent by Neptune to devour Andromeda, but it was turned to stone by Medusa’s head, held by Perseus who had just decapitated her. I’ve become quite familiar with the Medusa energy, since she showed up as an Aesculapian snake as long as I am tall, in the greenhouse three years ago. She is a representation of the ancient protective vortices of the Earth, power points hidden in stone, that are now coming alive again. Cetus also symbolizes the vortex energies of the Earth, an inference drawn from the vortex spray from the blow-hole of a whale. (Cetus is Latin for the order Cetacea which includes the whales, dolphins, and porpoises.) Note the reference to coils in this fragment from the 1st Century AD.
Cetus undulates its scaly back (Cetos convolvens squamea erga), it rises aloft upon a spiral of coils and splashes with such a belly as drove the sea beyond its proper shores when it appeared from the waves to destroy the daughter of Cepheus exposed upon the cliffs…”

On our walk, Dean tripped and fell, bruising his leg on a stump, exactly where Saturn is positioned on the Water Bearer.
Vortices are the hidden structures that shape our reality, not independently but through their interactions with us. Some have been manipulated for a long time to control the flow of energy and resources. The pyramid-shaped patriarchal control structure results from this manipulation, which has served to maintain stability while we cleared out and transmuted the endemic corruption that has plagued all levels of reality. However, many vortices have remained hidden, not because some real or imagined enemy hid them from us, but because they only reveal themselves when we move into resonance with them. This involves a balanced fluidity between our rational and intuitive modes of perception and self-awareness as a plasma being, made of salty water, sound and light.
Vortices are not common knowledge, but they are everywhere and becoming more active as we move into the Dreamtime. They are involved with the water domes in the management of the water cycle and the weather systems. If you feel the call to learn more, I highly recommend Nick Nelson’s book, The Golden Vortex, which will blow your mind.
So, the Sea Monster has now unveiled herself to reveal that her monster guise served to protect the hidden power spots, the vortices, until the right moment. Around the same time as the eclipse, Uranus met with the Sun and there have been several moderate, Earth facing solar flares, which fire-up psychic awareness. Up until the eclipse, Uranus was black and blocking certain connections, it acts like a switch, and just after the eclipse it turned white and more energy is now streaming from the inner and outer Suns. This can stimulate deep physical clearing in the inner waters (because the Earth has seen what you need to fulfil your self-determined aspirations), especially nervous and spinal blockages, headaches and muscle aches. If any old issues come up, don’t engage with them, as all you need do is let them go with neutral conscious awareness. This clearing will be over when Mercury (the indicator of energy transduction) comes back into play on May 15th, on new settings that will enable us to interact with the waters and the vortices. We are finding that the Ho’oponopono prayer is especially powerful at this time.
This eclipse marks a shift into a new phase, in which our participation really matters, on our own terms, according to our own accounting. If imagination is your currency, then your book-keeping is the account of self-worth in the akashic record, because no one can make that evaluation except you. In the Dreamtime, your story unfolds through spiraling thematic experiences that do not flow in chronological time and it will become increasingly difficult to use time as a point of self-reference. ‘Self-assessment’ reflecting on the units of self-worth, is like leaving yourself a trail of breadcrumbs through the woods, without which your entire life could fly by without you even noticing. Your dream is of immense value, as the Arcadian paradise is not a homogenous one-size fits all creation, that would be no fun at all.
From here on out, if you see monsters, it is the Great Mother in disguise and you need to unveil her, to discover another layer of yourself.
